Insurance Reimbursement 

The K1 is registered as a Class 1 Medical Device and FDA approved, recommended by physiotherapists and orthopedic surgeons looking for a more compliant knee brace that supports active rehabilitation. 

This certification means the K1 is eligible for reimbursement through Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) and Flex Plans by all Canadian insurers, as well as some carriers in the U.S. As for general benefits plans, our customers have experienced many cases of reimbursement but coverage is dependent on the insurer as benefit plans vary.

Follow these essential steps when filing an insurance claim for your K1:

  1. Review the details of knee brace coverage in your unique benefits plan.

  2. Obtain a prescription for the K1 from your medical professional. The referral should include the following:

    1. Outline of which knee the K1 is for.

    2. Recommendation of K1 for injury rehabilitation and daily use (important note: insurers will not cover knee braces for sports purposes only).

    3. Specific injury diagnosis that the K1 is being prescribed for. Here is Stoko's sample prescription form that can be filled out by your medical professional.

  3. Include a detailed receipt of purchase along with your prescription when submitting your claim. Detailed receipts can be obtained by contacting support at hello@stokodesign.com.
